Hello world!

Well, as the title says, “Hello World!”

Many of you have come to this place did so in response to an email I sent out to all my friends and family, and for doing this I say “thank you”. To any others who have found their way to this site I say the same: “thank you”.

I have started and abandoned several blogs in the past years for one reason or another. One being that I am so “computer illiterate” that I haven’t been able to make things look like I want them to. My little brother Fred McKinnon (see the link that I will try and figure out how to put on the side) told me about this site, and how much easier it is to navigate and do things with, so I decided to give this one a shot.

Here’s where I will need the help of all who will:  I am working on a project of putting together a curriculum (for lack of a better word) for new-born christians who are just starting out on their journey with Christ. It’s a passion that I have – teaching new believers – and I’ve had this project on my heart for some time now. Finally, after some issues that I have had in my own heart being taken care of, the Lord has released me to begin in earnest.

What I need from you is feedback. I am well versed in the scriptures pertaining to foundation and biblical doctrine for believers, but I don’t want it to just be a bunch of quotes from the bible (even though there will be quite a lot of those). I want it to be relative, practical and in a manner of wording that is common in today’s jargon. Jesus didn’t come speaking the language of the scribes and pharisees. He spoke the “lingua de franca“, or the common language of everyday people. That’s what I want to do.

So as you read the tid-bits of what I am looking for, I earnestly covet your responses to add to and suggest other titles, subjects or directions you may feel could be beneficial to a new babe in Christ.

The way I am being led to open this teaching is to discuss with a new believer what condition we were all in before we received the gift of God. This is what I have put down so far, and again, I’m open to any suggestions.

Before Christ, we were all:

  1. Hell-bound

  2. Bound under the power of sin

  3. Without hope

  4. Under the law

  5. Walking in our own power

  6. Unable to believe the Word of truth

Now . . . what would you add to this list??

  1. Good job Rob. As with any Christian New or Old the constant pull is that of the physical world with our spiritual awareness. There are many Biblical referance to this, but I feel it is something that needs to be addresed.
    In Christ, John

  2. Thanks for that quick response! Absolutely, the love for worldly things is an area in this teaching that I am going to address. I’m logging this one for a different chapter. Any suggestions for the condition of the “before Christ” question?
